Another Helping Hand In The Community

Nick Swisher will raise money for his community based organization Swish’s Wishes. “Swish and Chips” which is actually fish and chips was sold all day long at Foley’s NY Pub and Restaurant in Manhattan.

Part of the proceeds will go to the children of Swish’s Wishes. The restaurant welcomed Swisher back with a poster outside. Today the customers will eat, drink and take part in helping a sick child.

Some of the outstanding community actions Swisher has taken part in are the Lynn Sage Cancer Foundation where he gave his support in Chicago to help cancer research. Swisher also brought lights on the Macy’s Christmas Tree for a fundraising program. This benefited the USCF Children’s Hospital in San Francisco. Just as Devin Harris has and still is amking contributions to the communities across America, Nick Swisher is doing the same thing. As for many other baseball and basketball players.

Assisting Is Not Only For The Court.

New Jersey Nets point guard Devin Harris accepted the NBA Community

Assist award at a ceremony held at the NBA store in Manhattan on April 28th.

Not only does Harris assist on the court but he also assists in the community with his foundation 34 Ways to Assist, through which he supports the Big Brother, Big Sister and Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The 24-year-old Harris helps and mentors young children in New York, New Jersey, Dallas,

and his native Wisconsin.

A crowd of children screamed and applauded loudly when Devin arrived at the NBA store in Manh

attan, where children from his foundation took part in a work out.

“I bought new shoes for this,” said one excited little girl.

The children participated in stretches, push ups and many more exercises.

Shaking Baby Syndrome

Apple had an application that allows the consumers to quiet babies by shaking your phone until he baby has red x’s over their eyes. This is outrageous now Apple has taken it to the next level. Lots of people were not happy about this, especially the National Center on Shaken Baby Syndrome. Apple was condemned on many levels.

All college students you better get your A-game on. That is you admission face because CUNY is in. Because of the financial situations many parents are facing CUNY sounds like the best way to go. This sounds like a smart plan since most private colleges charge about $40,000 a year. When at CUNY on average you will pay about $5,000. After weighing the financial factors most parents would encourage their children to consider CUNY schools which include Brooklyn College, York College and Medgars Evers. If parents do not want to make their wallets more skinner than they are now then go the CUNY way.

Getting High Off Of Home Supplies…

OK now i have heard of using home products to make something to get high off of, but now these kids in Long Island, NY are actually using the home products to get high. This is crazy they use mothballs, hairspray, nail polish and other products that do not raise an alarm. These kids are not trying to get caught, but in doing that they are harming their bodies in the process.

They do things like this in groups playing games such as Russian roulette. Now that does not sound safe. This is crazy first it was taking Tylenol and sedatives to feel drowsy now its using household products. When will these kids learn. If they are afraid of getting caught then that means its not supposed to be done. HELLO!!!! I hope these kids get some help and learn to live their lives without having to feel high.

Now at a whopping $9.00 for cigarettes, many people begin to quit smoking. Smoking is a hard addiction to give up, but many people are starting to now. The Health Department is all for the increase in the price of cigarettes. People need to lay off the damn cigarettes can they not see that they are an express train to death. People try to help them and they do not want the help. But now that smoking is becoming an expense, just as gas has become, they want to quit. I think the increasing prices of gas and cigarettes is good because it will help people in the end. Americans are so caught up in doing what they want to. They do not want any one telling them they should not drive their cars everyday or smoke two packs of cigarettes a day. But now with the increasing prices, they have no choice but to stop smoking and driving their cars everyday or they will have to pay for it.

This is what is healthiest for the people of the United States. They may think it is the government trying to control them, but they do not see the government controls their everyday life. Without cigarettes people will keep away from killing themselves earlier then their time and they will not be killing other people from second hand smoke. Many people who smoke may think this is outrageous but guess what, I DO NOT CARE!!!!!

People when they say do not post any sexual or inappropriate images on these websites, such as myspace and facebook, do not do it. Or you will be charged in the court of law. This fourteen year old New Jersey girl may be a new sex offender if she is convicted. Many parents fear these websites for this exact reason. Now someones little daughter in New Jersey cannot get a job or go to college. Would you want a sex offender at your workplace or the college you go to? I would not. Now in these days, everyone wants to be a little porn star…especially this girl. Parents when you were younger, the Internet was a leisure thing now its a priority. The World Trade Center Construction Is Finally On Its Way!!!

After the political, economic and social factors of the construction of the World Trade Center are somehwat resolved, the construction is finally on its way. About 700 construction workers are working on this monumental piece of architecture. In 2006, the construction workers began on the foundation of the massive building. October 0f 2008 the central part of the World Trade Center of Freedom Towers emerged. The tourists have now views of World Trade center now but in Memorial Plaza will open in 2011, in2012 the museum will open, 2013 one of the buildings will be built, a transportation hub in 2014.

This Recession Hurts No One, Except The People Who Will Paying $103 For A Metro Card!!!

Well i guess the recession we are in does not matter to anyone anymore. The ones who are getting hit with the recession are the ones who have to now pay more and more daily to live their lives. This is crazy!!! The MTA now are throwing in another fare hike. So the fare to ride on a bus or train wil now be projected at $2.50. This is the third time in a row that the fare was hiked. First it was $1.50, then $2.00 and now $2.50. I heard many older people saying they remember when the fare was only $.30. “Yeah those were the days” is what they would say. The MTA is in debt and trying to use the millions of people who use the services to pay for it. I understand they want the customers to be safe and that is why they are always doing construction, which does not help, but they should slow down on that and find some way to make money instead of using it. This is highly upsetting because we pay and pay, but never see the end result of our money. I say we should all just drive for the prices we are paying, but this is the best way to get around concerning global warming. AS OF MAY 1st THIS FARE HIKE WILL BE GOING INTO EFFECT!!!
